Personal Profile: Joshua O'Brien, Founder

::The past::​

                     I am a third-generation property manager. I am passionate about the hospitality industry, specifically the overnight rental market such as hotels, motels, resorts, and short-term rentals. My grandfather and father spent countless hours explaining the inner workings of the industry. I have had hands-on experience since I was able to help with renovations, maintenance, marketing, operations, and management of apartments, rental homes, hotels/motels, and overnight rentals.

                    Having owned multiple businesses and properties between Louisiana and  Tennessee, my grandfather operated and managed his own properties and businesses as well as clients. The point is, there's not much, if anything, I don't know or haven't experienced first-hand in this industry.

                   My grandfather passed away in 2000 from lung cancer (mesothelioma), unfortunately all his assets had to be sold to cover the expenses of his medical treatments and settling his debts. A life's work gone in a day. So, I know how to start out with nothing and how build it from the ground up. For that education and experience I am forever grateful. Continuing my grandfathers work, I delved deep into the industry to learn it from the inside out and to earn my bones with hard work and determination. By design, there are few jobs or positions in the industry I have not held.

::My Present::​

                  Running against the grain is a family trait, my grandfather had convinced me at a young age that in lieu of a traditional college path, I should have hands-on 'real world' experience. While this handicapped me some on certain job opportunities and 'learning to earn' doesn't help out on any credit applications or job interviews; my grandfather convinced me that raw experience is better and more effective than academic theory. While I did have some traditional education in college, I have spent the last 30 years of my life in the industry from the inside.

                 Today I have owned a cleaning company, maintenance company, contracting company, and an insurance business. I have sold real estate, gym memberships, programs, insurance, retirement packages, and products. I have developed operational programs with Wyndham, Westgate, Days Inn, and Ramada. I have strategized with clients and property management companies for the last 13 years. The one consistent thing has been, learn to earn. I am now at the point now where I am primed and in position to ride the next wave of new owners coming into the market. They will need advice and assistance that Facebook groups and Reddit cannot help with.
